If you haven't had a chance yet to read my blog post on How I Got Here, you may want to check that out since it explains some of the equipment choices you see below.  When buying pretty much anything I research the issue to death and make the purchase only when convinced it's the right decision...for me.  In general, when making purchases I follow these two principles:  get the best that I can afford, and get the right tool for the job.

Canon EOS R6 Mark II

RF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro

RF 50mm f/1.2 L

Control Ring EF-EOS R

I got great advice from a colleague - went mirrorless for my first camera and couldn't be more pleased.

Great lens for close-up shots; also a very good lens for portraits.

One of the best auto-focus primes on the market.  Outstanding lens.

For using EF lenses on an RF mount camera.

Sigma Art 50mm f1.4

B+W ND Filters

Sigma WR Clear Filters

Heliopan UV SH-PMC Filter

My first lens and it has been great.  I purchased it used from KEH.com.

Excellent filters. I have the 3-stop and 6-stop.

Think Tank Photo Mirrorless Mover 25

Peak Design Slide Camera Strap

Manfrotto XPRO 3-Way

I really like Think Tank & Mindshift products. This is a great backpack.

For those times I just want to carry the camera and one lens.

Being able to connect and disconnect the strap quickly is worth every penny for this strap.

Adobe Lightroom Classic

Adobe Photoshop

Helicon Focus

Linux laptop with 64Gb of RAM.   For photo editing I run a Windows virtual machine, allocating 32Gb of RAM.  Works pretty well.

I use Lightroom classic for photo management and nearly all editing.

I use Photoshop very little - it is there when I need it because it comes with an Adobe Creative Cloud account.

Software for focus stacking ...need to do sometimes to get the subject in focus when you have a very thin depth of field.
